This year at FINOS we are focusing on one of FINOS' key existing projects: Open Source Readiness. This is FINOS' term for helping the finance industry "do open source properly".
What’s Been Happening?
On 5th April we had an amazing Special Interest Group (SIG) meeting where Brittany Istenes presented her article on Maintaining Open Source Projects, with lots of discussion around how this should work in regulated / corporate environments. This sparked some interesting discussion around how Compliance and Evidencing Requirements impact open source projects. PR Incoming!
Kay Xiong Pachay presented her article on Training Requirements for Open Source Developers (again, working in a corporate environment). It was interesting to hear how different banks mandate training for open source developers and what those courses contain. Again - PR Incoming!
Coming Up This Week
We have the OSR SIG meeting (Wednesday 10AM EST/3PM BST). Check out the FINOS Calendar and get involved.
We will be talking about community management for open source development (again, courtesy of Brittany Istenes) and (time permitting) we’ll be reviewing one of several other new articles being drafted for the Body Of Knowledge.
