This year at FINOS we are focusing on one of FINOS' key existing projects: Open Source Readiness. This is FINOS' term for helping the finance industry "do open source properly". 

Hello everyone, welcome to another Open Source Readiness weekly blog!

Just to give you a sneak peep behind the curtain, I am on holiday this week, so I’m writing this in advance, hot on the heels of the FINOS Board meeting yesterday on 19th July.

At that, I was able to give an update on the progress we’re making towards some Open Source Readiness products!  

In November, at the Open Source in Finance Forum in New York, I’ll announce our new Linux Foundation course, “Open Source Contribution In Finance“ designed to train developers on the best practices for contributing to open source within their jobs at banks or other financial institutions.

We’re also working away on the FINOS / TODO Financial Services Certified Open Source Developer (COSD) exam. A portable, professional certification for our industry which developers can reference on socials/their CV to indicate competence in this area.
