2024 FINOS State of Open Source Report
During the keynotes, FINOS Executive Director Gabriele Columbro shared insights into the State of Open Source in Financial Services Report. This report highlights that over 80% of respondents say that using OSS improves software quality and over 80% agree that OSS delivers business value. A dedicated panel session was held to discuss more details at OSFF.
FDC3 Announcement
We announced that BlackRock’s Aladdin platform and Morgan Stanley’s Open Source ComposeUI have successfully achieved FDC3 2.0 Conformance, joining the growing list of FINOS FDC3 Certified Platforms. This marks a significant step in improving industry interoperability using the FDC3 open standard for financial desktop platforms.

AI Announcement
We released the first draft of an AI Governance Framework for financial institutions, aimed at safely deploying AI in the sector. The initiative, supported by industry leaders like NVIDIA, Protect AI, and Moody's, focuses on setting standards for responsible AI use.

OSFF attendees had a great treat to watch and listen to Kelsey Hightower, dubbed by many as the Godfather of Kubernetes discuss the importance of open source within finance, which we do here every day. But Kelsey emphasizes the importance of collaboration, learning, and finishing projects, while warning against rigid compliance that hinders innovation. He also urges organizations to foster a culture of experimentation and growth, leveraging open source to shape the future.
