Here's what's happening in the week of December 9th, 2019 within the FINOS community. Please feel free to forward this email to colleagues and industry partners who you think will be interested in FINOS. Thanks to everyone who provided feedback on the FDC3 1.0 standards so far! We have decided to extend the deadline to complete the FDC3 Survey to Friday, December 13th.

Your input will help us improve our support for your organization and the larger FDC3 community. Please take a few minutes to complete the FDC3 Survey and let us know how well you think FDC3 is addressing the needs of financial organizations, how we can help you with adoption, and what you think of the health of the FDC3 contributor community. Access the survey here.

Welcome to another amazing week of Fintech Open Source at FINOS! I hope you're well and getting into the spirit of Christmas with an Advent of Code. Feel free to share your advent answers with me, which I'll COMPILE into a LIBRARY of STORIES for the REST of the FINOS community to JOIN and follow

Last week was another great milestone for the FINOS community as we travelled to Scotland to launch our very first Edinburgh Open Source Fintech Meetup with Scott Logic. With talks from Scott Logic, Millersoft and Lloyds Banking Group, the Edinburgh fintech open source community came together for an impressive meetup of demos, talks and learning. Well done everyone!

We're not stopping there though, as when we return after Christmas, we're starting 2020 with our first London Open Source Fintech Meetup, where Stephen Diehl from Adjoint, Adam Mcmurchie from Barclays and James McLeod from FINOS come together with FINOS and Scott Logic to share open source experiences and welcome people to join and collaborate as part of the FINOS community.

Everyone's welcome to join the FINOS UK Open Source Meetups by simply subscribing to Edinburgh Open Source Fintech Meetup and London Open Source Fintech Meetup.

  • [External Event] Global CS Education Week: Hour of Code in Brooklyn, NY
    • In addition to the financial support that many FINOS members already provide to organizations like CSForAllGirls Who Code, and Black Girls Code, a concrete action individuals within the FINOS community can take is to lend a hand to children and young adults learning how to code and introduce them to open source concepts and practices.  If you're in New York City the week of December 9 - 15 (Global CS Education Week) and are interested in volunteering to go to a school in Brooklyn to help run a "Hour of Code" with local school children, feel free to reach out to Rob at rob.underwood@finos.org.
