The Foundation operates under a governance structures that strives for transparency, neutrality and meritocracy.
The Foundation is overseen by a Governing Board composed of member representatives appointed (and elected) by our members and led by FINOS Executive Director. The Foundation's day-to-day operations are run by the FINOS team.
FINOS is home to three kinds of collaborative efforts: open source software projects, open standards projects and special interest groups. The majority of FINOS projects are open source software projects. FINOS projects are self-governing and may determine their own governance rules consistent with FINOS policies and the open source definition, but FINOS provides default governance templates for both to provide projects with a starting point.
