Annual Conference Brings Together Executives, Developers, and Innovators at the Intersection of Open Source and Financial Services
November 1st, 2018, New York, NY --- FINOS (the Fintech Open Source Foundation) today announced J.P. Morgan's William Quan and Clovyr's Amber Baldet as keynote speakers at The Open Source Strategy Forum (OSSF). OSSF is the leading global event for financial executives and technologists dedicated to open innovation, taking place in London from 14 - 15 November. A standout theme at this year's OSSF will be practical advice and focused discussions about how to build an effective open source strategy within a financial services firm.
William Quan, executive director at J.P. Morgan and co-chair of FINOS' Financial Objects working group, will address accelerating ideas through open source in a session titled, "Unlocking new workflows, product and technology innovation through open source collaboration." Amber Baldet, co-founder and CEO of Clovyr, will bring her experience in product innovation, blockchain, and data technology to a fireside chat titled, "Coordinate, collaborate, compete: open tools for the next-generation financial industry."
"At J.P. Morgan, we believe that open source code invites collaboration and improves technology through active feedback and inclusion of diverse perspectives, leading to better results," said Quan. "I'm looking forward to presenting at this year's Open Source Strategy Forum, discussing our contributions to FINOS, both in the form of actual code as well as our work with fellow FINOS members to find new ways to leverage open source to meet evolving business needs for the broader financial services community."
"Open source is helping financial services companies reinvent how they can work together," said Baldet. "The Open Source Strategy Forum brings together the financial services and open source communities, and FINOS works at that intersection to create useful tools for next-generation architecture, including decentralized applications. It's an exciting step in making this all real."
The first day's program for OSSF will be divided into three tracks - business value & strategy, policy & process, and tools & technology. On day two, panel sessions, trainings, and other discussions will provide attendees the opportunity to explore topics introduced on the first day in a more detailed and interactive setting.
"Open source technology is shaping industries for the better and the financial services industry stands to gain with it as a technological foundation," said Gabriele Columbro, executive director at FINOS. "Since the purpose of this year's forum is to promote open collaboration and innovation within technology and financial services, we're pleased to have Ms. Baldet and Mr. Quan keynote the event and share their unique views on how banking and open source are evolving."
