FINOS and Linux Foundation Research, in collaboration with GitHub, Red Hat, Scott Logic, and Sonatype are excited to launch the 2024 State of Open Source in Financial Services survey. This annual study explores how the financial services industry is leveraging and contributing to open source software and standards.

In our 2023 State of Open Source in Financial Services survey, 90% of respondents reported that open source is valuable to the future of the industry and 88% agreed it’s valuable to their organizations. This recognition is critical as the industry overcomes challenges faced by highly regulated industries in order to take advantage of the myriad benefits that open source provides.

Now in its fourth year, the survey will delve into the evolving practices of consumption, contribution, and governance within the industry. Additionally, it will address pressing topics such as security and the impact of generative AI.
