This Week At FINOS

This Week at FINOS: Week of March 14, 2022

Written by FINOS Team | Mar 14, 2022 1:58:06 AM

Here's what's happening during the week of March 14, 2022 within the FINOS community.

We are just two days away from our first NY based FINOS Open Source in Finance Meetup of the year! Space is limited and registration is almost to capacity for the in-person component, but if you are in NY and would like be added to the wait list for the in-person version of this meetup you can opt-in to be added and we will let you know by March 14th to confirm your in-person attendance.

While there may be limited space to join in-person, you can always register and join the webinar session virtually. Just make sure to save a seat virtually by using our Zoom Webinar link to tune in and catch our amazing live sessions from Eddie Knight representing Synechron and from the FINOS Compliant Financial Infrastructure (CFI) project with his talk entitled; So you want to build an IaC registry?

Mike Meriton, Co-Founder & COO at EDM Council and Eric Bigelsen, Senior Advisor, Industry Engagement & Product Manager, ESG at EDM Council will be giving a talk on Cloud Data Management Capabilities (CDMC) Global Industry Framework & FINOS – Accelerating Trusted Cloud Adoption.

Registration for the Open Source in Finance Forum (OSFF) - London on July 13 is now open! Join us during Fintech Week London, who we and The Linux Foundation partnered with this week. And the Call for Papers / Speakers is still open for both London and New York.

Last month a request for comments (RFC) was raised regarding the formation of a Technical Steering Committee (TSC). The purpose of the TSC would support the FINOS Governing Body (GB) and FINOS Team, by creating a group that focuses on the ‘solution space’ giving direct and meaningful support to the FINOS portfolio of projects.

The initial RFC was well received from the community, with 6x +1s, 12x positive comments, and 5x people indicating that they would be interested in joining the TSC. Now we are asking you to please provide further feedback and your input on the formation and election process which is outlined in the the RFC here.

The latest Open Source in Finance Podcast has just been released with the focus on Financial Regulators in Open Source. On this episode Grizz sits down with two former US financial regulators, Sultan Meghji (former FDIC Chief Innovation Officer) and Jennifer Lassiter (founding member of the Innovation Lab at the FDIC), to discuss the regulator perspective on open source in financial services.
