If you recall, we were busy working over the summer with our research partners, The Linux Foundation, Scott Logic, Wipro, and GitHub to collaboratively conduct the FINOS ‘2021 State of Open Source in Financial Services’ survey.
Hilary Carter, VP Research, at The Linux Foundation, and Colin Eberhardt, CTO, Scott Logic will be summarizing the key findings of the survey and will be outlining out what steps the industry can take to break through these barriers and benefit from the innovation that open source software and standards at the next Open Source London meetup on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at 12 PM EST / 5 PM GMT.

- There are currently 10 open issues in the FDC3 repository , under consideration for the 2.0 release, that relate to the existing concept of channels (both the 'system channels' used via the desktop agent API, and 'app channels' interacted with through the Channels API) and new concepts we've discussed introducing: transactions (a standardized way to make a request and receive a response back) and feeds (a standardized way to request a stream of data, such as a pricing stream).

- The Financial Objects Special Interest Group (SIG) provides a neutral forum for individuals across the financial services industry to collectively identify the need for new, open, financial objects standards as well as modifications to existing ones. The goal of the Financial Objects Special Interest Group is to promote adoption of financial object definitions and models that support common industry workflows and use cases.

Wednesday, December 1st

- In this panel discussion, three experienced open source IP attorneys; Van Lindberg, Partner, Taylor English, Heather Meeker, Partner, O’Melveny & Myers, and McCoy Smith, Founding Attorney, Lex Pan L will answer questions that large companies have about contributing to open source projects.

Thursday, December 2nd
- 9am ET / 2pm GMT. FDC3 Context Data & Intents Discussion Group
- At the FDC3 Use Cases Roundtable London, October 5th 2021 participants agreed that the FDC3 lexicon needs to be expanded, both with additional intents and context types to support Use Cases, but also to include more primitive data types in order to construct complex types. A number of participants also agreed that now is an appropriate time to expand the Lexicon.
- This group is being convened to discuss and arrange work to contribute further Context types and Intents to support Use Cases being implemented by participants.
