Watch an engaging session in the Open Source in Finance Webinar Series, where Hedera’s Mike Cave and Justin Atwell dive into how Web3, distributed ledger technology (DLT), and AI are transforming financial infrastructure—featuring real-world use cases, sustainability insights, and Hedera’s unique approach to decentralized governance through open source.
Speakers: Mike Cave, CFA - Director of Technical Programs & Operations, Hedera & Justin Atwell, Ecosystem Lead at the HBAR Foundation, Hedera
The presentation explored how Hedera’s unique architecture is redefining the future of finance. Hedera, leveraging a novel Hashgraph consensus algorithm instead of a traditional blockchain, offers blazing speed, fair transaction ordering, and unmatched sustainability. A key differentiator is Hedera’s Governing Council—a diverse consortium of 30+ global organizations (including IBM, Google, and Dell)—which ensures decentralized governance and secure validator operation.
The webinar also introduced Hiero, the open-source foundation hosted by the Linux Foundation that powers the Hedera ecosystem, reflecting Hedera’s commitment to transparency and community-driven innovation. It also highlighted the integration between Hedera and Google BigQuery, showcasing real-time data analytics capabilities, cross-chain queries, and AI-driven use cases like sustainability tracking and anti-money laundering.
