We also announced an awesome new open source project called Legend and two new Special Interest Groups. Read on to learn more.
FINOS NEWS & UPDATES
FINOS Legend Open Sourced!
Around this time last year, FINOS Platinum Member Goldman Sachs announced their intention to open source Legend - a significant undertaking - and last week they achieved this. We're thrilled that Goldman's flagship data management and data governance platform is now available as a FINOS open source project. Developed internally as Alloy, and used by both engineers and non-engineers alike, Legend provides a single platform to develop data-centric applications and derive data-driven insights.
REGULATION INNOVATION special interest group (sig)
We're excited to share that the FINOS Governing Board approved the Regulation Innovation SIG at last week's board meeting. The SIG will be led by David Ehrich of the Alliance for Innovative Regulation (AIR) and Ian Hollowbread of ING. FINOS members Adaptive, Capital One, JP Morgan, RBC, and Deutsche Bank have expressed their interest along with many others (see more here). The Regulation Innovation SIG brings together a community of people interested in creating open source solutions for regulatory and compliance issues, such as AML, KYC, digital regulatory reporting, payments, and many more topics.
DEVOPS special interest group (sig)
We're equally excited to share that the FINOS Governing Board also approved the DevOps Mutualization SIG. The SIG will be led by Amol Shukla from Morgan Stanley and Anders Wallgren from CloudBees. Prior to becoming a SIG, interested participants from more than 15 FINOS member firms engaged in lively discussions around common engineering challenges in financial services. They identified initial areas to explore in more detail including solutions that enable regulated enterprises to manage self service in the engineering toolchain and collecting SDLC evidence in a manner that enables continuous delivery while mitigating risk.

As part of our celebration of the FINOS community we're recognizing the awesome work of our open source contributors and the wider FINOS community. For this fifth edition we’d like to highlight Jessica Woodland Scott, Technology Analyst at Deutsche Bank, for the dedication, hard work, and engineering prowess she brings to the FINOS Waltz open source project.
